WUHL : Dai Dong Teochew Braised Duck Rice
21 Nov 12, We had a good group lunch.
Few days back, when we were walking to a Korean supermarket nearby our office, we came across of this Duck Rice place. It was near the boat quay area, where the bars and restaurants were.
My pretty foodie lovers consultant at office explained to me of this place, how famous it was. I could also tell by the packed place it was. Dai Dong Teochew Braised Duck Rice. Miss 'D' explained about Teochew area in China and how their cuisine is different. How surprised we were when we saw the signed that they were closing down and about to move to different place.
Miss 'D' quickly then arrange a get together lunch, planned on that restaurant before it closed down. So finally on the day, 21 Nov 12, 5 of us, we enjoyed a good lunch there.
5 of us enjoying the food, talked about it, compared it, and also did some chit chat about other things. What else can you expect of a great dine out? Great companions on great food. Indeed.

This was the look from outside. We arrived there around almost 12, but the place already somehow packed.
While some of us take our place inside, some ordering the food for us. It was insterested that we just need to mention how many of us, and if we wanted the veggie and side dish (tofu and egg - braised also) or not, and how many rice. That was it. They served the food to our table.
This was how our table look like.
The braised duck, some braised tofu and egg, and vegetables.
The duck taste was good and soft. I loved peking duck best, but however, I found this type of cook, braised, quite refreshing, it was not heavy, and there wasn't any duck smell.
The braised spice was blended well enough, making the duck taste very well.
I could not say it was sweet, but mix of spice, I was happy it not heavy spice.
Taste very well.
Interestingly, the tofu is even more delicious, I'd say. Not too soft, but the flavor was quite strong. Very delicious. Few of us were not really fond of the duck, but found that this tofu and egg super delicious.
The vegetables, omehow looked stirfried, but with some soup based, it was soft and taste good also.
Not oily and somehow crunchy. I am not a veggie lover, but I found this veg was good.
I could eat a lot of it.
