WUHL: Song Fa Bak Kut Teh
Aw. Have you tried one?
Our family do not really eat prok. I grew up without eating pork, until I graduated from high school then I tasted my first time ever of pork. The reason is because my father did not allow any kind of pork in our house. If there was an event at my home where pork was served, it could not stay over night. So, my knowledge of pork cuisine is not so advanced if not limited.
My husband's uncle once asked me to try the best Bak Kut Teh in Jakarta, but when we arrived at the restaurant, it was closed. Well, I really would like to know how does Bak Kut Teh taste :)
This colleague I have at work, who happen to be someone who is very fond of food, told me about a great Bak Kut Teh place near our office. It also happens as on of the top ten Bak Kut Teh place in Singapore!
She planned for the three of us to go there one afternoon for lunch. Mmmhh.. just thought of it made me drooling :)

To get there we need to walk a bit longer than our usual lunch places. It takes around 10 to 12 minutes walking. Amazingly one of us wearing very high heel and fine with it :) The trip includes crossing a very big street on own risk ;)
So we finally got there, and ordered our food. Of course I ordered the bak kut teh. It came with choice of rice or white thin noodle. I chose rice to go with my bak kut teh.
One colleague of mine ordering with the noodle, looked good also.
It came with chilly in soy sauce, if added to the bak kut teh, made the flavour more savory.
The bak kut teh was clear, not like one I had seen in new york china town, (one of Kamala's favorite if I am not mistaken). The taste was good, peppery, the meat was soft and not too chewy. The meat also does not have the "pork" smell that sometimes exist with pork cuisine. They serve the ribs. Which I think in US restaurant cost very very expensive. While here, they cost us each only about $7. I really like the fact that the meat was not hard, so soft that they were easy to eat with chopsticks and spoon and didn't trap in my teeth. I enjoyed it so much. Good!

Interesting enough, one day when I and my mom were in a taxi and drove by the area, the taxi driever quickly told us, "hey, you know maam, there wes a very famous Bak Kut Teh place!"
We ended up describing the taste to my mom hahahaha.. I think I should bring my mom there.
